White Harvest Farms Volunteering
Volunteering at WHF is an experiential learning opportunity where volunteers actively perform tasks associated with growing organic vegetables. WHF staff explain assignments and work alongside volunteers as they perform a range of tasks associated with regenerative farming. Volunteer tasks are physical – planting, weeding, bed prep, mulching, harvesting, washing produce, bagging and labeling produce. Actions like digging, raking, bending, twisting, using a wheelbarrow, lifting are part of volunteering at WHF.
When coming to volunteer at WHF, volunteers should wear clothes for outdoor work that they do not mind getting dirty. We recommend closed toe shoes, pants, breathable long sleeve shirts and a hat. Also consider bringing sunscreen, bug spray and gardening gloves. We provide drinking water but please bring a water bottle that you can refill. We drink a lot of water at WHF!
You don’t have to stay for the whole volunteer shift but please arrive by 8am so that we can get started as a team. We meet at the farm for volunteering. The farm is sometimes difficult for some to find, look for the white fence surrounding the farm and the high tunnel on the farm site. If you are driving south on Moncrief, the farm is just after you pass Moncrief Creek on the right hand side of the road. If you are heading North on Moncrief, the farm is just after you cross the railroad tracks on the left handside of the road. Once you arrive, pull through the white gate and park on the cement in front of the WHF Pillars.
We ask that volunteers practice social distancing and wear a mask while on the farm. Especially when you arrive, sign in, congregate as a group or anytime you are involved in harvesting produce. We ask that you do not volunteer if you are feeling unwell.
Thank you so much for supporting White Harvest Farms! We could not do what we do without your help!
